Further Up and Further In
Michelle:
Frankly I’d rather someone else do the introductions! How can I describe myself? I can tell you things like… I really love people and solitude, coffee and chocolate, good books and hiking. I don’t love cleaning bathrooms and really, really dislike harsh words. My sense of humour has been described as “slightly bent” and I won’t deny it–I usually laugh loudest and longest at my own jokes. I really, really love Jesus–He’s healed my heart and makes me brave.
I have three young adult kids to whom I may have imparted my bent sense of humour. They’re feisty and fun and refuse to fit in boxes (apparently that’s my fault too). I’m crazy proud of them and occasionally embarrassed though they’d tell you I’m the embarrassing one!
I’m married to an extraordinary guy. He’s strong and stable, makes me crazy and crazy about him, and is just right for me. He too likes being out of the box and laughed the loudest when someone called him the “the pastor’s wife.” I feel like I couldn’t do what I do without his “hand of blessing on my head.” (Every time I’m not feeling brave enough at all, he puts his hand on my head, looks me in the eye, and without any words at all imparts courage.)
All that Jesus has done for me fuels my passion that everyone would know His goodness and experience His restoring power in their own life! So I preach and I write…I laugh and I cry…I hug and I pray…and I will forever sing His praises!
Amy:
Hmm, these introductions are hard and tricky! People who see me with purple hair and unique clothing style may find my organized brain and love of books, solitude and planning, a dichotomy. They all fit together in the package called Amy. Furthermore, all speak to Jesus making me in an unique wonderful way and bringing vibrancy and flourishing to my life! In the past few years, I’ve been on a renewal of sorts that involves all that I knew, and thought I was, getting overturned and sorted (in a really good but hard way).
I live in Northern Alberta and am raising two young children. My two children are inquisitive, curious about all the things and motivate me to be able to explain the wonderfulness of Jesus in a way children can get it. My wonderful, brilliant husband never ceases to amaze me with his current focus of learning as well as his constant encouragement to explore all that Jesus is calling me into.
